The launch of Hyundai Motor India Limited's (HMIL) exclusive BEV Platform E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) for India has been announced. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 will be the first model to be released under the E-GMP Platform. The company will play a leading role in advancing the BEV revolution with the release of its specialised BEV platform. The brand announced in April that the Ioniq 5 would be released in India by the end of the year or in early 2023.
Hyundai E-GMP Platform
The E-GMP platform comprises of vehicle chassis that includes battery, motor and power electric system. The battery system has a cutting-edge battery pack that provides a long range, and the bi-directional charging port enables the high-voltage battery to power a variety of electronic equipment. A built-in charging control unit (ICCU) that charges both the high-voltage battery and the auxiliary battery is another element of the E-GMP platform. Modularity, Performance, Reliability, and Usability are the four main pillars on which E-GMP is designed.

The cutting-edge E-GMP design and its modular systems will allow for the flexible development of several vehicles that meet a variety of customer needs. Additionally, because to this platform's modular design, it is possible to construct a variety of high-range battery alternatives by adding or deleting conventional battery modules.
The high-speed electric motor on the Hyundai IONIQ 5 performs admirably, reaching a top speed of 185 km/h. Additionally, users can benefit from Ultrafast Charging with E-GMP, which can charge up to 80% in 18 minutes (with a 350 kW DC charger).
E-GMP will also deliver improved internal space with a long wheelbase in response to modern purchasers' desire for increased mobility and usability in transit. In addition to providing more cabin room, E-GMP will do so by moving the AC system to the engine bay. Hyundai IONIQ 5 will provide variable space utilisation with E-GMP thanks to a variety of seating options, including relaxing seats with leg support and a sliding console for greater adaptability.
