Tata Nexon CNG Spied In Camo; Launch Soon In Coming Months
Visually, the CNG variants are simply the ICE variants with a CNG powertrain inside. The same is carried forward here and you get the facelifted Tata Nexon iCNG inside and out, but with heavy camo. Wrapping the test mule still gives away clearly that this is the Nexon and the sightings have only been growing one after the other hitting at its imminent launch soon.
Within the cabin, you will get the same tech list as the regular variants. Meanwhile, Tata has not revealed the trims on offer with the CNG kit, the higher-spec variants will get the same modern features like a 10.25-inch infotainment screen along with a same-size fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control, and more.
Safety is taken care of with a comprehensive set of features including ABD with EBD, an electronic stability program, 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a few others. Not to forget that the Nexon CNG will come with Tata's twin-cylinder tech offering big and practical boot space.
Powertrain Details
Tata Nexon CNG will come with a 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine, which will be a first with any CNG car in the country. The turbo petrol unit is good for 120PS power with a peak torque of 170 Nm in petrol mode. The performance figure will drop in CNG mode which is typical of the greener fuel. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual. However, the fact that the Tata Tiago EV and the Tigor EV now offer AMT gearbox, the Nexon CNG will have it as well.
The Nexon CNG is expected to hit showrooms in the coming months with pricing looming around Rs. 8 lakhs - 15.8 lakhs ex-showroom.
Verdict
The Nexon CNG is coming soon to challenge the Brezza that is the only compact SUV right now with a CNG powertrain. Since Nexon enjoys one of the people's favourite choice in the segment, the CNG will boost its adaptability even more. The question, however is not about the if, but how severely it dents the sales of its Maruti CNG rival upon its launch.
