Maruti Celerio was the first Indian car to feature an AMT gearbox and even before that, it quickly gained success by being a humble hatchback. However, with the rising new competition, Celerio took a backseat in design, features and even sales. Now, new information about the upcoming Maruti Celerio is doing the rounds on the internet and has been spied too a couple of times. In this article, we explain the new Celerio whose patent design has been leaked.
The upcoming Maruti Celerio will be based on the newer Heartect platform that is seen on Swift, Ignis and other cars. Design-wise, at the front, the headlights takes inspiration from the Alto800 and has a slight sweptback design. A smaller grille design followed by a chrome strip connecting the headlights is seen at the front. Similarly, a new bumper design and fog light housing are present at the front.
We believe that the new Celerio will gain 14-inch alloy wheels for the top-spec variants and the side profile continues with the liftback style door handles, body-coloured door handles for the top-spec variants while the rear gets an updated tailgate, wiper and a new bumper.

Maruti Celerio is the oldest car from the carmaker that is due for a change and for the interiors too we can expect new changes to come around. A 7.0-inch SmarPlay infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, new upholstery and others.
Mechanically, the Celerio will continue with the 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol unit. This engine churns out 67 bhp with 90 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual and an optional AMT will be observed. The higher variants of the new Celerio could also house a 1.2L engine option. We can also expect CNG in the updated model.
As far as the prices are concerned, we can expect an increase of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 from the current model. The current Celerio is priced from Rs 4.65 lakh to Rs 5.90 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. We can expect the launch of the new Celerio in the coming few months.
