VW launched the Virtus at a starting price of Rs 11.22 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Even with the base-spec Comfortline trim, it offers all the decent features that the user can have along with a peppy 1.0L TSI petrol motor under the hood. After its official launch on June 9, the deliveries for the same have commenced.
Mechanically, VW Virtus is powered by two engine options - 1.0L TSI and a more powerful, 1.5L TSI. Both these engines are used in VW Taigun, Skoda Slavia and Skoda Kushaq. The smaller, 1.0L TSI engine belts out as much as 114 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 178 Nm. This gets mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and also gets a six-speed torque converter automatic as an option.
The bigger 1.5L TSI motor develops 148 bhp of power with a maximum torque of 250 Nm. A 7-speed DSG is paired with this motor as standard. On the other hand, the VW Taigun that was launched last year also gets a 6-speed stick shift with this bigger motor.

Feature-wise, the VW Virtus packs in a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, auto IRVM, an electric sunroof, digital instrument cluster, ventilated cooled front seats and more.
Safety equipment on the sedan includes six airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control, traction control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, multi-collision brakes, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera and more.

VW Virtus is priced from Rs 11.22 lakh to Rs 17.92 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. This sedan rivals Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz and fifth-gen Honda City.
