If there's one budget and affordable 4x4 that is popular globally then it is the Suzuki Jimny. The popularity of this SUV is such that the waiting period is more than 6 months in some countries and people are gaga over this. While India still awaits the 3-door Suzuki Jimny, the Australian markets will now get a Jimny Lite.
The Jimny is quite a successful and popular product in the Australian markets and that is why Suzuki will be bringing its Lite version first there. Do note that this Jimny Lite from Suzuki will just carry the barebone features.
The 7.0-inch touchscreen will be replaced with a basic CD/Aux-IN player and the 15-inch alloy wheels will make way for the steel ones now. Similarly, fog lights, halogen projector headlights and plastic textured ORVM covers will be omitted from the Jimny Lite.

Even though there will be loads of features removed in the Lite version, we still believe it will be a success for Suzuki. We say it because the prices will go down by a good margin with this newer Lite version. Also, with the huge demand, Suzuki might cater to a lot of buyers with this variant.
Mechanically, the Jimny Lite will be powered by the same 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine. This unit delivers as much as 103 bhp with a peak torque of 138 Nm. The Jimny Lite is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. For those who love the convenient automatic, the Lite version will be a disappointment. The SUV is scheduled to launch in Australian markets by August 1.

In other news, Suzuki is considering bringing the 5-door version of the Jimny in India as it will make more sense. This long-wheelbase variant will carry the same 1.5L petrol and will rival the buyers of Mahindra Thar directly. We are expecting it to be launched in the second half of 2022.
