Soon after making a debut in the Indian market, the Yamaha MT15 brought in significant sales for the Japanese brand. The bike offers a lightweight and compact package that is powered by a powerful and energetic petrol motor. The brand however is now all set to introduce the new 2022 Yamaha MT15 in the Indian market and has axed the present iteration of the bikes from its Indian portfolio. Here are all the details that you should check out about the new 2022 MT15.
For starters, the new MT15 will be offered with a number of cosmetic updates while the brand will also update the mechanical setup by a fair margin to improve the performance and dynamics of the bike. Most prominent updates include a new and more aggressive front fascia while what we will also see are new bi-functional LED headlights, wide handlebar, sporty rear-view mirror, sculpted fuel tank, new radiator side fins, and an upswept exhaust. We are also expecting Yamaha to offer updated colour options and new graphics to enhance the visual appeal of the bike.
On the mechanical front, the new MT15 will be offered USG forks that will help in improving the dynamics and the ride quality. Having said this, no major changes are expected to be made to the underpinnings of the bike. The rear mono-shock suspension setup will however be same as before. We might also see dual-channel ABS with the Yamaha MT15 but no major changes will be made to the braking hardware.
Powering the new 2022 Yamaha MT15 will be the 155c liquid-cooled motor with a 4-valve unit that churns out 18.5 PS and 13.9 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This engine is offered with variable valve actuation (VVA) and assist and slipper clutch.
