New Skoda Superb - What Will Change?
As per an online report, the new 2023 Superb will make a comeback in a new avatar. The design of the upcoming model has already been hinted at via a silhouette image shared officially by Skoda. We suspect that it'll get a new front grille with a new set of headlights and C-shaped LED DRLs. Also, the bumper at both of its ends shall also undergo minor changes. The main highlight is that the new Superb will be assembled locally in India. Therefore, its prices might drop by a big margin when compared to the prices of the old model. Skoda has also introduced the new BS6 Phase 2 compliant Kodiaq SUV in India recently.
Regarding the interiors, we think the sedan will remain majorly unchanged. However, new features like level-2 ADAS, etc. can be expected. Also, the interiors can be revamped possibly using a new colour theme on the inside. On the powertrain front, Skoda is expected to offer petrol-hybrid options. But, it is still unclear which powertrain option will make it to the Indian market. Additionally, Skoda also confirmed that it is interested to relaunch the Octavia as well. However, its relaunch will depend only on the response achieved by the new Superb. There is also a possibility of the reintroduction of the vRS Octavia in India.
Verdict
The sedan culture in India has again started taking off. However, the demand for SUVs remains all-time high side-by-side. Meanwhile, Skoda is still willing to play in the luxury sedan segment with its new Superb. We can expect that the new model shall be launched by the end of this year in India. Also, its prices will remain upwards of Rs 45 lakhs.
