2024 Maruti Swift: Launch Price, Variants, Colours
The new Swift has debuted at a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh for the base LXI MT model. The range-topping ZXI+ AGS model will set you back at Rs 9.64 lakh. Maruti is offering the new Swift in five variants: LXI, VXI, VXI(O), ZXI, and ZXI (Plus). The VXI (O) is the latest addition to the variant list. Moreover, the uber-cool hatchback is now available in two new colours: Luster Blue and Novel Orange. The other 7 colours remain unchanged; therefore, making a total of 9 colour options available.
Design, Features, Safety Upgrades
As it is a new-gen model, the chassis and design have been revised thoroughly. With a new front fascia, it gets a revised grille and new projector headlights with L-shaped DRLs. The top models get LED foglights as well. On the side profile, it gets a new set of dual-tone 15-inch alloy wheels and repositioned rear door handles. The rear profile, however, has not received major updates apart from a new LED taillight setup and a revised boot lid and bumper.
Inside the cabin, the new model is equipped with a refreshed dashboard, a new 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ infotainment system, and a new 4.2-inch MID speedometer console. The HVAC controls have also been updated. The overall design of the cabin now hints towards a premium hatchback. However, elements like the speedometer console and switches are identical to the Baleno. The top model also gets rear AC vents, wireless charging, cruise control, and the hill hold assist system.
Maruti has also upgraded the safety of the new-gen Swift with the addition of 6 airbags as standard. Additionally, it gets three-point seatbelts for all passengers. Other safety features like hill hold assist and ESP help in getting better control of the car.
New Engine and Gearbox Options
Another major update on the new-gen Swift is the new 1.2-lt Z-series three-cylinder petrol engine. This engine has been taken from the global model and it has replaced the outgoing 1.2-liter four-cylinder K-series motor. This new 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated motor generates a peak power output of 81.58 PS and a peak torque of 111.7 Nm.
While we're yet to experience this new engine, it is up to 3 kmpl fuel efficient than the outgoing model. The ARAI-claimed economy of the AMT powertrain is 25.75 kmpl while for the manual transmission is 24.8 kmpl.
Maruti is currently offering the Swift with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT transmission options. There is no proper torque converter automatic gearbox available with the new model as well. Moreover, the CNG variants of the car have not been introduced at the launch. We suspect that Maruti will launch Swift CNG models in the coming months.
The new-gen Swift rivals the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago.
