Hyundai Ioniq 5 made its official debut and unveiling at this year's Auto Expo for the Indian market. In European countries, the Ioniq 5 was already doing good numbers. Now, it has garnered over 650 bookings, as confirmed by the company. The introductory price of the launch is Rs. 44.95 lakh ex-showroom. However, the introductory price was meant for the first 500 bookings only.
While the initial plan was to sell 250 to 300 units on an annual basis, the bookings crossed the 650 mark. This was more than the estimated demand that the product earlier expected. The deliveries will commence from next month onwards, that is March 2023.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Details
Price
The introductory price of Rs.44.95 lakh is almost 16 lakh rupees less than its direct rival, the KIA EV6. The EV6 costs between 60.95 to 65.95 lakh rupees. That is a big price difference.
Powertrain
The Ioniq 5 is based on a modular Global E-GMP platform, powered by a PMSM motor mounted at the rear axle. The motor delivers a power of 214 bhp with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The 72.6 kWh battery offers an ARAI claimed mileage of 631 km on a single charge. The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 supports a superfast 800V charging that can juice up the battery pack from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes.

On the features front, the electric crossover is pretty well-equipped. It gets Level-2 ADAS, a large infotainment screen, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated seats with memory function, and much more. It also gets a V2L, Vehicle to Load functionality, that basically lets you power or charges home appliances of up to 3 kW.
Warranty
Hyundai is offering a 3-year/ unlimited kilometers warranty as standard, and an extended 5-year/1,40,000 km as an option. The battery warranty is for 8 years/ 1,60,000 km.
VERDICT- The Ioniq 5 looks like a promising product by looking at the spec sheet. Also, in flesh, it looked refreshing and appealing at the Auto Expo. The tech quotient and the price gap that it enjoys when compared to KIA EV6 will be a great boost to its success in the Indian market. This is already established by the number of booking it received in a short span of time, considering that it costs almost 45 lakh rupees.
