KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Maruti Invicto likely to skip ADAS
- More features could miss out on the Hycross sister
- A bid to keep costs in check
The much anticipated Toyota Innova Hycross's sister Maruti Invicto is nearing its launch. With unveil date set for 4th July, the buyers are already eying the alternative of Innova. But this news might crash the merry party. As per some sources, for the first time, the Toyota-Maruti cross products will not have the same features list.
Yes, Maruti Invicto is ready to skip some loadings of the Innova Hycross but why is that? Why not just borrow it just as it is? Read on to find out the whys and what could potentially be left behind.
Maruti Invicto Likely To Skip Some Key Features
While this news might put some potential buyers off, this has a reason behind it. It has to do with the pricing of the MPV. A point-by-point copying of the features would have meant a higher price tag, so Maruti is looking to do away with some features of ADAS or even the whole ADAS suite as well. This doesn't come off as very surprising as most buyers will be okay with not having this modern autonomous driving suite.

Furthermore, few cuts and misses are expected inside the cabin as well. For example, the powered seats, JBL audio system, and more. Although Maruti vehicles are touching new price points, to still keep its mass-friendly price positioning in the market, this course could be taken. It will use the relatively new TNGA-F platform of Toyota, so keeping the same spec sheet would drive up the price even more.
Powertrain
Unlike the Innova Hycross, the Maruti Invcto is available only in a strong hybrid automatic- a 183hp, 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine coupled with an electric motor that comes mated to an e-CVT gearbox. The bookings are only being accepted for the blue color with the Alpha Plus fully loaded variant. More color choices are expected moving forward.
Maruti Invicto: Variants And Pricing
As time progresses, more variants are likely to make their way with additional color choices. This will allow for more flexible spending options for the customers and also keep the price bracket within limits. The current Toyota Innova Hycross price dwindles between Rs 25.03 lakh-29.35 lakh (ex-showroom) with the ZX(O) with ADAS priced at Rs, 29.99 lakhs. Maruti Invicto could be priced above the lower limit and will undercut the Rs. 29.99 lakh mark for the top-end model.
VERDICT- The road to missing out on some features looks like a bumpy ride, but in the bigger picture, it will help Maruti to better position Invicto in the market. This move will make the Invicto a better-priced MPV than it would have with all the tech and gizmos.
