Maruti Suzuki Celerio First Look Review - What It Offers in 2020?

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is a popular hatchback in India. It can also be called as a game-changer for Maruti as it was the first Maruti to offer AMT and also the world's smallest diesel engine. However, the latter one didn't really get much success. The diesel engine was later discontinued due to some issues but the AMT is still on sale. Since its launch in 2014, Maruti hasn't changed much in the Celerio and it still offers similar set of features. You may ask if the Celerio is worth buying in 2020, we will answer that and give you the first look review of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio First Look Review - Exteriors

Maruti Suzuki Celerio Review

The exteriors of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio are very conventional. The front of the Celerio gets swept-back headlights and chrome bordered grille. The lower part of the bumper gets fog lamps and sporty pattern around it. The rugged Celerio X model gets black cladding and blacked-out alloy wheels. If we talk about the dimensions, the Celerio measures 3695mm in length, 1600mm in width, 1560mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2425mm. The Celerio rides on 15-inch alloy wheels and gets a decent boot space of 235 litres.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio First Look Review - Interiors and Features

Maruti Suzuki Celerio was offered with a good amount of features when launched in 2014. By today's standards, the specs sheet of the Celerio feels short when compared to the competition. The interiors are offered in dual-tone colour but lack the fresh appeal. The audio system of the Celerio is still old school and doesn't get new features like Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

But it gets the job done by offering, 2 din sound system, dual airbags, ABS, EBD, steering mounted controls, height-adjustable driver's seat, all power windows etc. Its rivals like Maruti Wagon-R, Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid do offer more features and modern interiors.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio First Look Review - Engine and Performace

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cyl petrol engine which produces 68PS of power and 91 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. Maruti also offers a factory-fitted CNG option but that is offered in lower variants. The CNG model produces lesser power - 58bhp and 78 Nm of torque. However, if you drive the CNG model in petrol mode, it will churn out the same 68PS and 91Nm of torque. The Celerio was the first Maruti car to come with AMT transmission and it created a lot of buzz in the market.

Celerio X - More rugged version of the Celerio

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is priced considerably higher than the market trend. By that, we mean that with spending a little more will get you the Wagon-R or say, the Tata Tiago. However, as the Celerio is inching towards the end of its life cycle, dealers give good discounts on the Celerio. The Celerio range starts from Rs 4.41 lakh and goes to Rs 5.58 lakh ex-showroom.
