In June 2023, Maruti Suzuki plans to launch the 5-door version of the Jimny, its off-road vehicle. The company has started production of the car ahead of its official debut and has already rolled out the first one from its factory in Gurugram, Haryana. The brand aims to manufacture 100,000 units of the car per year. Bookings for the Jimny 5-Door have been open for the past 4 months and the vehicle has already received a significant number of bookings.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door
The forthcoming launch of the Jimny from India's largest automaker has generated a lot of anticipation. The Jimny will be constructed on a ladder frame chassis and will be equipped with Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4x4 system. It will be powered by a 1.5-liter K15B smart hybrid petrol engine from Maruti Suzuki, which is well-known for its excellent fuel efficiency. The engine will be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque converter, and it will produce a maximum output of 105 bhp and 134.2 Nm of torque.
The Jimny measures 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height, and its wheelbase is 2,590mm, providing it with a more imposing appearance on the road. The 5-door Jimny will be offered in nine colour options, including seven monotone options such as Nexa Blue, Bluish Black, Sizzling Red, Granite Grey, and Pearl Arctic White, as well as two dual-tone options: Kinetic Yellow and Sizzling Red with a Bluish Black roof.
The Jimny will have six airbags, dark green glass, an electronic ORVM, steering-mounted controls, LED headlamps, headlamp washer, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, and an Arkamys sound system. The instrument cluster in the cabin will contain round analogue dials and a MID. The small dashboard will provide better front visibility.

Verdict: Although the exact launch date has not been made public, it is likely to take place in the first half of June and media test drives have already been booked. Depending on the model chosen, the Jimny waiting period can last anywhere between 6 and 8 months. The price of the SUV is expected to be price between Rs 11-14 lakh (ex-showroom).
