Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Mileage Test
We had the chance to put the brand-new Jimny 5-Door through a number of tests during the most recent media drive. The particular model we got was outfitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox. One of the tests we ran looked at the mileage with four people inside and luggage in the boot. We drove the SUV along the Dehradun to Saharanpur highway while carrying a full load in order to evaluate its performance under these circumstances.
To assess the mileage, we used the tank full to tank full approach. Before setting out on our journey to Saharanpur, we filled the tank at a fuel station in Dehradun. We encountered a variety of situations on the journey, including city traffic, uphill parts, and highway stretches. Even with a full load, the car operated effectively maintaining a speed of about 8085 km/h.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny Real World Fuel Economy
We embarked on a drive with the Jimny covering approximately 112.8 km, and upon returning to Dehradun, we refilled the fuel tank. According to the vehicle's Multi-Information Display (MID), the fuel economy displayed was 14.4 km/l. However, we employed the tank full-to-tank-full method, which entails calculating the total distance covered divided by the amount of fuel refilled. By using this method, we found that the vehicle took 6.91 liters of petrol. Dividing 112.8 km by 6.91 liters, we arrived at an average fuel economy of 16.32 km/l. Consequently, we achieved a fuel economy of 16.32 km/l from the Jimny MT variant, despite its claimed fuel economy being 16.94 km/l.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Engine Specifications
The Maruti Jimny 5-Door comes with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine which generates 103 bhp of power and 134.2 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes with a 5-speed transmission and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Verdict: During city drives, the Jimny can achieve its claimed mileage when driven with gentle acceleration and a light foot on the pedal. It excels as an off-roader and performs decently on regular roads as well. The success of the SUV largely hinges on its pricing. If the brand prices this 4X4 SUV competitively, it is likely to attract a substantial customer base. Notably, the vehicle has already amassed over 30,000 bookings.
