Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport was imported to India a long time ago. For the first time now, the car has been spotted testing by ARAI over the public roads.
Day, after we showed you the story of the first-ever Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport, spied on the back of a trailer; the car has been spotted testing in Pune. This is the first time that Maruti Swift Sport has been spied testing over the Indian roads. The sticker on the rear windshield was "On Test By ARAI" which meant that the car is being tested for the Indian roads. So, is it launching soon in India?

Well, the spied car embraced the bodyshell of the international model pretty well. The rear end was using a new & wider bumper with a twin-exhaust can design. The rear bumper lip was also seen with carbon fiber treatment. A spoiler at the top & shark fin antenna were other noticeable highlights of the test mule from the rear.
If you look closely, the side profile is the same as the regular Maruti Swift sold in India. Even the alloy wheels design was different from the regular Swift Sport sold globally. Also, the tyre profile was thinner than usual. Over the front, a reworked bumper with sporty designed front grille & fog lamp housings is noticeable. The front bumper also uses a carbon fiber lip.
Suzuki uses a 1.4 Lt, BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine which is supported by a mild-hybrid tech. This engine is available in the international markets where the Swift Sport is sold. It produces a peak power of 129 hp & 235 Nm of peak torque. Suzuki offers the Swift Sport with an optional 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The spied car might not necessarily be tested for the Indian market. It might also be possible that Maruti Suzuki has imported the car for any component testing. It is no surprise that manufacturers often import their global models for testing new components under the ARAI. Even those test mules embrace the 'On Test By ARAI' sticker.
Even if Maruti Suzuki is planning to bring the car in India, it'll most probably come as a CKD unit. We can also anticipate that Maruti might use the 1.0-Lt, BoosterJet petrol engine which was seen in the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS variant. This engine produces a peak power output of 101 hp & 150 Nm of peak torque. The transmission option is a 5-speed manual gearbox.

For now, the claim can not be made that Maruti is surely testing the Swift Sport for the Indian market. It can or can not be the test of the sporty iteration of the car for the domestic launch. Upcoming months shall clear more information regarding the testing.
