Maruti Jimny 5-Door Zeta Variant Details
So, a test car that is production ready has been spied on recently. The photos of this Zeta AT variant have gone viral online. While the Jimny base version looks similar to the top-end; there are some notable differences. The first thing to notice is the absence of alloy wheels. Yes, the Zeta version will get steel rims as seen in the photos. Jimny will be available in Zeta & Aplpha trims and only the latter will get alloy wheels. Additionally, the door handles are also not body coloured. Meanwhile, the interior photos reveal that it uses a smaller touchscreen than that on the Alpha trim.
The rear profile of the Zeta AT has a steel spare wheel that is covered via a rubber cover. This is something that customers were acclimatized with the Gypsy. However, the front end of the Jimny 5-door Zeta is similar to the Alpha. But, there are some important features that the front end of Zeta misses out on. These include fog lamps, headlamp washers, LED headlights, & electrically retractable ORVMs. Additionally, it also does not get a leather-wrapped steering wheel & cruise control as seen on the top-spec of Jimny.
Meanwhile, both of the variants of Jimny will be the same mechanically. Under the bonnet is the reliable and peppy 1.5-lt K15B petrol motor from Suzuki. This engine will further be offered with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed AT gearbox options. Meanwhile, Suzuki's ALLGRIP PRO will also be a standard offering of the Jimny brand in India. Hence, the proper stature of its off-road image is going to be maintained by the company.
Verdict
Maruti has already debuted the Jimny lifestyle SUV in India. Additionally, the company is also undertaking official bookings for it. However, the prices of it are still not revealed. We are suspecting that it will be priced in the range of Rs 9-12.5 lakh when launched. Upon its launch, it will rival the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-Door & Force Gurkha 5-Door.
