Tata Motors is at it again! After bagging a full 5-star score at G-NCAP for the Altroz B2-premium hatchback, the carmaker has now received top honours once again for the Punch micro SUV. The upcoming offer that was sampled by us recently has become the latest recipient of the 5-star rating for adult protection and a respectable 4-star score for child occupant protection. With this, the Tata Punch has become the third car from Tata Motors to have received the full rating for adult protection after the Altroz and the Nexon received top honours in January 2020 and December 2018, respectively.

The Tata Punch will be launched on October 18 and will go head on against the Maruti Ignis. It has been designed at the carmakers studios in the UK, Italy and India. In its carmakers lienup, the new offering will find itself slotted between the Tiago and the Altroz. It will go on sale in four variants that have been given a rather distinctive nomenclature Creative, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. The top-spec Creative time will be made available with optional iRA connected car technology.
The Tata Punch has become the second model, after the Altroz, to be underpinned by the carmakers ALFA-ARC platform. The new model even shares its 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder petrol engine with the B2-segment hatchback. However, unlike its sibling, which is available only with a 5-speed manual transmission, the new crossover-inspired hatchback will be even sold with an optional 5-speed AMT.
