Toyota India is prepping up to launch the second product out of their alliance with Suzuki. The Urban Cruiser which is a rebadged Vitara Brezza will be launched on the 22nd August and bookings will open up tomorrow. We saw the launch of the Glanza last year which was priced cheaper than the Baleno with added warranty. Toyota will do similar with the Urban Cruiser but this time, with some changes. Let's see the 5 things you need to know about the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser.
Exteriors
The most prominent change visible on the upcoming Urban Cruiser will be the exteriors. Unlike the Glanza, Toyota will revamp the front facia of the car to differentiate it from the Vitara Brezza. The front of the Urban Cruiser will get Fortuner-inspired two-slat chrome grille and repositioned fog lamp housing. The front bumper will also see some tweaks whereas the side and rear profile will remain more or less the same. The rear profile may get some tweaks on the bumper but overall, it will be the same.

Interiors
Talking about the interiors, we expect some subtle changes without changing the mechanicals and rejigging the features. Toyota may go with dual-tone interiors with a lighter shade whereas the Brezza comes with all-black interiors. The dashboard design will be identical, along with AC controls and the touchscreen unit. However, it may not support the Suzuki Connect services which are exclusive to Suzuki cars only. The dashboard will be identical and a Toyota logo will sit on the steering, in place of Suzuki.
Engine and Gearbox
The Toyota Urban Cruiser will come with the same 1.5-litre petrol engine we see in the Brezza. The 1.5-litre four-pot petrol engine churns out 105PS and 138 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed AT gearbox. Maruti gives the smart-hybrid tech in Vitara Brezza with the AT only. However, we expect Toyota to give the same Smarr Hybrid technology to both manual and automatic trims of the Vitara Brezza. This addition will improve the fuel economy of the MT variants considerably.
Features and Warranty
The Toyota Urban Cruiser won't jump ahead of the Vitara Brezza in terms of features. As both the Vitara Brezza and Urban Cruiser will be manufactured on the same assembly line, there won't any big changes. The Vitara Brezza is already a featured loaded car with features like LED projector headlights, LED fog lights, LED taillights, cruise control, automatic headlights, steering mounted controls, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, automatic AC, dual airbags etc. In terms of the warranty, the Urban Cruiser will offer three years and 1,00,000 km warranty.

Variants and Price
Toyota India will sell the Urban Cruiser with limited trims only, we assume middle trims and top trims. Toyota will price the Urban Cruiser more affordable than the Vitara Brezza, as we see in case of the Glanza. However, the top trims of the Urban Cruiser will be priced similar to that of the Vitara Brezza. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza starts from Rs 7.34 lakh and goes to Rs 11.4 lakh ex-showroom.
