Yamaha Crosser 150: A Perfect Fit For India?
Spotted testing in the hilly terrain, the solo test mule looks production-ready. The motocross-inspired design of the bike indicates that it is a new iteration of the XTZ 150 platform. While it might not look very enticing in size and appeal; the Crosser is a very popular product in Brazil and other Latin American markets.
Speaking of the spotted bike, it is completely covered but the design and dimensions are evident. The upright riding posture looks relaxed and commanding. The fuel tank has extended shrouds while the halogen headlight is positioned above a large beak. The single seat looks comfortable as the rider is seated.
Other crucial details include the halogen turn indicators and taillight. The spoke rims with slim block-pattern tyres hint at better off-road capabilities; something that is a stronghold of the Crosser globally. Also, the long-travel front suspension and a monoshock rear suspension will be tuned for a comfortable ride. The upswept exhaust is also designed for better water-wading capacity.
Powering the Crosser will be a 2-valve, 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This puny powertrain generates a peak power of 12.2 bhp and 12.74 Nm of peak torque internationally. A 5-speed gearbox is used to transfer this power to the rear wheel. However, we're unsure whether these power figures will change or not when the bike is launched in India. It also has petal disc brake rotors at both ends, which possibly means a dual-channel ABS can be offered as well.
Will it launch in India? Well, this is a question that we can not answer for now. These are the first spy shots and if the plan to introduce this bike is strong; we anticipate more details will surface in the coming months. If it is launched within this year, the Crosser 150 will rival the Hero Xpulse 200 4V. The pricing of Crosser can be around Rs 1.5-1.75 lakh.
