Ahead of its launch on the 18th August, the all-new 2022 Maruti Alto K10's base variant has leaked online. This is the LXi entry level version and was snapped at a dealer stockyard. This means the new hatchback has been dispatched all across the country and should be available for deliveries starting tomorrow itself.
This new entry level hatchback gets an all-new design and also marks the reentry of the "Alto K10" brand name in India. This model was earlier discontinued in 2020 and should give Maruti an extra edge in the small car market. It will rival the Renault Kwid and will also help Maruti offer something new for first time car buyers. Pricing and version wise break up will be out on 18th as well.
As expected, the base LXi version will be feature stripped. The car will not have wheel cover or even caps. Even the outside mirrors and door handles are finished in black and are not body coloured. Thankfully, Maruti will offer bumpers in the body colour shade. At the back, things are basic and the Alto K10 branding is visible on the left side. On the inside, the Alto K10 LXi will not come with power windows and other frills. While air-con will be standard, we will have to wait and see if the base version will come with power steering or not. Airbags and reverse parking sensors will be standard.
The 2022 Maruti Alto K10 will use the new and updated 1.0-litre K10C petrol engine that we also see in the new S-Presso. This engine makes 66 bhp of power and 89 Nm of torque. The Alto K10 will be offered with both a 5-speed manual as well as a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Maruti will also give owners the option to opt for a factory fitted CNG kit. That said, it needs to be seen if the S-CNG kit will be offered at launch or at a later stage.
Stay tuned for the grand launch this week. We will also be driving the car on the 20th and our detailed review along with a mileage run will go live on our Youtube channel.
