2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Details
As clearly seen in the spy photos, the new-gen Alto is going to be bigger in size. The dimensions are bound to increase as the segment itself shifts towards the SUV trend. Even the rivals like the Renault Kwid are portraying themselves as micro-SUVs.
Considering the fact that the new buyers are inclined to butch SUV looks; the new Alto has been designed. The dimensions are going to get large. It will be taller, and wider and even the ground clearance is going to upsize by around 180 mm.
As the spied car was being loaded on a flatbed truck, only the rear design is visible. The new square-shaped taillights are not LEDs but they give it a unique look. The large size of the boot lid showcases that the inside cabin room is going to get bigger as well. The large wheelbase and size translate to more interior space.
Following the latest trend, Maruti is expected to make the cabin look more upmarket. We anticipate that the high-tech features will make their way with the new Alto. One can expect a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, etc. We also anticipate that the quality of construction might also improve as seen on the new-gen Maruti cars like the 2022 Baleno, 2022 XL6, & the new Brezza.
Under the hood, the base variants will continue using the same 796cc engine. It has proved itself as one of the most reliable workhorses in India & hence Maruti shall continue using it unchanged. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be offered along with this engine. Additionally, the bi-fuel CNG engine will also come as it caters to a lot of high-mileage buyers.
Adding to this list can be a 1.0-lt K10C engine which is already seen over the Celerio and the S-Presso. This engine is anticipated to make a comeback with a 5-speed manual as well as a 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox. Nevertheless, this will happen later on after the Alto 800 variants are launched in India.
Not long ago, Maruti phased out its Alto K10 but we expect that it might make a comeback soon. While the rumors are that the new Alto 800 will launch by the second half of August 2022; Maruti later on can launch the Alto K10 as well.
