The Maruti Baleno is one of the best selling premium hatchbacks in the Indian market and is all set to get a major update. The upcoming 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno will not only get a new exterior design, but in addition to this, will also get a new cabin, and updated features. Here are the top five things that we know about the upcoming new Baleno in India.
Improved Safety
The new Baleno is said to offer a safer and well-built cabin along with much-improved safety equipment. To start with, the car is expected to offer as many as six airbags in addition to other advanced features like Electronic Stability Program (ESP). The brand is also said to be working on improving the overall built quality of the Baleno.
No CVT?
The Indian carmaker is said to be working on introducing an AMT transmission that will replace the expensive CVT. The AMT box is expected to be similar to what we get with the Swift. Having said this, while the CVT does offer a smoother driving experience, the AMT on the other hand is more affordable and offers better VFM.

A New Cabin!
One of the major updates made to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno happens to be a new cabin that not only looks better but will also boast a better in-cabin experience. To start with, it will get a new floating centre console and a layered dashboard layout. Other changes include a flat-bottom steering wheel, a new digital instrument console with a larger MID, and better quality plastics.
New Infotainment System?
It's no secret to anyone that Maruti and Toyota are closing working together to develop new products together. Maruti is said to use a Toyota-Maruti infotainment system in the new Suzuki Baleno that will offer features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while the system will also get a new user interface. The brand will additionally offer features like HUD, wireless charging pad, etc.
Expected Price and Launch Date
While we still are awaiting official details, the brand is expected to launch the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno by mid-2022 while it will demand a slight premium over the current iterations. The 2022 Baleno is expected to be priced from INR 6-6.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
