Maruti Suzuki YTB SUV Details
The YTB is going to be a mass-segment SUV. This means it will be designed to stay under the 4-mt length mark for added tax benefits. This also means that Maruti has serious intentions to price it aggressively. But, for the starters, let's talk about what we know for now.
Only a single photo has surfaced of the test car & it depicts the rear end well. The camouflaged design endorses a sculpted and butch body shape. The overall design and dimensions do look similar to the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid which is sold overseas. It will be no surprise if Maruti underpins the YTB on the Yaris Cross. The Maruti-Toyota pact does come with a lot of benefits, eh?
A shark fin antenna, rear wash and wipe, defogger, high-set taillights (LED as they appear), a spoiler, & a beefed-up rear bumper are the rear design details. The overall silhouette will also feature some of the elements carried from the upcoming Grand Vitara SUV. We also suspect that the YTB will either be based on the Heart Tech platform or on the TNGA (Toyota).
Spec-wise, we anticipate that it'll use the omnipresent 1.5-Lt K15C Dual-Jet petrol engine. This can possibly mean the power and torque figures will also remain the same as that of the new 2022 Maruti Brezza. A peak of 102 hp and 136 Nm is what you can expect. As Maruti has no diesel & the rivals like KIA Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, & Mahindra XUV300 have; a hybrid engine is also expected.
Maruti can possibly use the Smart Hybrid or even the full-hybrid engine on the top-spec YTB. This will be done in order to achieve high fuel economy figures. Maybe that's the only way to beat the diesel-equipped rivals? Jokes apart, we also expect that a lot of technology will be on offer. Features like HUD, 360-degree parking assist camera, 9-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, ESC, ABS, EBD, electric sunroof, push-button start/stop, etc., will also be offered on the YTB SUV.
For now, no additional details about its price and launch time are known. What we can tell you is that it is expected to debut sometime in the first half of 2023.
