We have got to know that Maruti Suzuki has planned to retail its premium hatchback Baleno through the Arena chain of dealerships. Maruti Suzuki has registered a decline in its market share in the past few months, much of which is because of the launch of new cars by rivals. After the launch of the S-Presso in 2019, Maruti has not launched an all-new car and this could be yet another reason for the drop in demand.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd retails its cars through Arena and Nexa showrooms. The Nexa caters to the brands' premium models that include Baleno, Ignis, Ciaz, S-Cross, and XL6. Now, by launching Baleno at Arena outlets, the carmaker will attempt to increase the sales and profitability of its dealers who do not have Nexa outlets.

Also, MASS (Maruti Authorized Service Stations) was authorised to service only its Arena range of cars and not the Nexa models until now but they may soon get permission soon to do so. Maruti has more Arena showrooms across the country than Nexa outlets. No wonder, then, that it has better access to consumers through the Arena range. Maruti might soon add more models to the car's lineup borrowed from the Nexa range.
The Indo-Japanese carmaker is also busy with the development of an updated iteration of the Maruti Baleno. While the current model continues to bring massive sales volume for the company, the advent of fresher rivals has certainly pushed the premium hatchback out of the limelight.

Spy images leaked earlier have revealed that the premium hatchback, which has been testing in a fully camouflaged guise, could feature multiple cosmetic updates. Changes expected inside the cabin are a new dashboard layout and leather seat upholstery. The interior could be further spruced up by a longer list of features. These could include a fully digital instrument cluster, an updated infotainment system, and much more. The car might even undergo some safety upgrades.
