Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), the country's largest-selling carmaker, has today announced 1 million cumulative sales of Baleno premium hatchback. With this, the B2-segment hatchback has become the country's highest-selling premium hatchback. The Hyundai i20-rival is on sale with two 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine options - 1.2-litre K-Series and 1.2-litre DualJet Dual VVT. The car also offers first-in-segment mild-hybrid technology.

The Maruti Baleno was initially available with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine. The latter used to be a Fiat-sourced Multijet unit that used to offer segment-leading sales figures. The premium hatchback was even introduced in a performance-focused RS version that came equipped with a 1.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine. The highlights of the small car's features list include Idle start-stop, Smartplay Studio with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Multicolor information Display. Safety features on offer include Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, Pre-Tensioner and Force limiter seat belts with reminder, ISOFIX child restraint system, High-Speed Alert system, Reverse Parking Assist sensors, as standard across all variants.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd retails its cars through Arena and Nexa showrooms. The Nexa caters to the brands' premium models that include Baleno, Ignis, Ciaz, S-Cross, and XL6.
