India's largest carmaker - Maruti Suzuki has just announced that its Baleno premium hatchback has achieved 8 lakh sales milestone. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno was first launched in India in October 2015. It was the first premium hatchback from the house of this Japanese car manufacturer in the Indian market. It has re-defined the premium hatchback segment and also, has been consistently one of the best-selling cars in its segment since 2016.
Talking about the journey of Baleno in India, as mentioned before, it was first launched in October 2015. Initially, it was offered with both petrol as well as diesel engine options. In 2017, Maruti even launched a performance-oriented version of Baleno, called the Baleno RS. Finally, in 2019, the Baleno received a mid-life facelift and got BS6-compliant petrol engines. It was the first mass-market car in India to get a BS6-compliant engine. Now, Maruti Baleno has finally achieved the 8 lakh sales milestone in just 59 months of its launch.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno currently gets two BS6-compliant petrol engines. The first one is a 1.2-litre K12B petrol motor that churns out 83 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm of torque at 4200 RPM. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT. The other mill is a 1.2-litre K12C Dual-Jet petrol engine. This motor delivers 90 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 115 Nm of torque at 4400 RPM. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The K12C motor even gets Maruti's advanced smart hybrid technology.

The new 2020 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is sold in India in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha with prices ranging between Rs. 5.63 lakhs - Rs. 8.96 lakhs. All prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi.
