Hyundai Venue

The first vehicle on the list is the sub-compact SUV, Hyundai Venue. The Korean company offers powered front seats that are 4-way adjustable, available from the SX(O) variant onwards. The Venue is a surprise entry because there are some popular cars with price tags of 917 to 918 lakhs that don't offer this feature.

The Venue is offered with three powertrains: a 1.2 L MPI Petrol engine, a 1.5 L CRDI Diesel engine, and a 1.0 L Turbo Petrol engine. Additionally, there are three transmission options: 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, and 7-speed DCT.

Kia Sonet

The counterpart of the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet, also offers a 4-way adjustable powered driver seat, starting from the mid-level HTX+ variant. The Sonet received a facelift at the beginning of 2024, which significantly boosted its sales numbers. The facelift version is packed with features and offers multiple choices for engines and transmissions.

The standard petrol engine is the same 1.2 L MPI, which Kia refers to as "Smartstream." Then there is the 1.0 L Turbo petrol engine, which is available only with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. Lastly, the 1.5 L CRDi engine is offered with three transmission options: 6-speed manual (6MT), 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (6iMT), and 6-speed automatic transmission (6AT).

Hyundai Verna

In 2023, Hyundai completely redesigned the Verna, giving it a fresh new look that is polarizing. The new Verna is longer, wider, and more powerful. However, one thing that hasnt changed is Hyundai's habit of making their cars feature-rich.

The Verna introduces several first-in-segment features that arent available in any of its competitors, such as premium Bose speakers, ventilated seats, and an electronic parking brake. The powered driver seat function is available in the top model, SX(O).

There are two engines on offer: a 1.5 L naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5 L turbo petrol engine. The naturally aspirated engine is available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed iVT, while the turbo petrol engine is offered with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT.

Volkswagen Virtus

Volkswagen's best-looking car in India, the Virtus, offers powered seats for both the driver and front passenger in the Topline varient. Launched in India in 2022, the Virtus has quickly garnered a strong fanbase. Drivers often find other cars boring and superficial after experiencing the Virtus. This sedan creates a strong connection between the road and the driver through its precise steering wheel and outstanding chassis.

The Virtus is available with two engine options: a 1.0 L TSI petrol engine with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, and a 1.5 L TSI petrol engine with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG transmissions.

Skoda Slavia

The fifth and final model on this list is the Skoda Slavia, which is essentially the sibling of the Volkswagen Virtus. Despite their different styling approaches and logos, these two cars share the same platform. The Slavia also features powered front seats and is recognized as one of the safest cars on the road, achieving a 5-star rating in GNCAP.

The Slavia offers the same range of engines and transmissions as the Virtus. The top-spec trim, Prestige, includes this feature along with ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, a 10-inch infotainment screen, hill-hold assist, and a digital MID (Multi-Information Display).

Verdict

These five cars represent the most affordable options on the Indian market offering powered seats, all under the 15 lakh price tag. Including the VW Virtus and Skoda Slavia ensures a comprehensive list despite their slightly higher cost. The popularity of powered seats stems from their convenience, making them highly valued by consumers. Like Hyundai, more automakers should consider incorporating this feature into their economical car models to enhance usability and appeal to customers.
