CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is a pocket-friendly and greener alternative to conventional petrol and diesel fuel options. Once at a nascent stage, the CNG segment has grown many folds in recent times. All thanks to the rising fuel prices, all the major car manufacturers have jumped into this segment. The lower running cost works as a clear advantage for CNG vehicles, however, these are slightly more expensive as compared to their petrol counterparts. So today we have compiled a list of the top 5 most affordable CNG cars, currently on sale in India.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 S-CNG: Rs. 5.03 lakh
Priced at Rs. 5.03 lakh (ex-showroom), the Alto 800 S-CNG is available in a single LXi (O) trim. The entry-level hatch is the most affordable CNG car in India and it is powered by a 796cc F8D 3-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Producing 40 bhp and 60 Nm of peak torque, the small hatch is quite fuel efficient returning a claimed mileage of 31.59 kg/km.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso S-CNG: Rs. 5.90 lakh to Rs. 6.10 lakh
Taking the second spot in the most affordable CNG cars list is the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. Available in two trims, i.e. LXi CNG (O) and VXi CNG (O), priced at Rs. 5.90 lakh and Rs. 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom), the hatchback is powered by a 1.0 liter K10C petrol engine putting out 56 bhp and 82.1 Nm of peak torque. The car returns a claimed fuel mileage of 32.73 kg/km.
All-New Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 S-CNG: Rs. 5.95 lakh
The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 S-CNG is available in a single VXi trim with a sticker price of Rs. 5.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It uses a familiar powerhouse which is a 1.0 litre K10C petrol engine putting out 56 bhp and 82.1 Nm of peak torque. The claimed fuel mileage stands at 33.85 kg/km.

Tata Tiago i-CNG: Rs. 6.35 lakh to Rs. 7.90 lakh
The Tata Tiago i-CNG is available in a total of 7 trims, with prices ranging from Rs. 6.35 lakh to Rs. 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the hood, it uses a 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine producing 73 bhp and 95 Nm of peak torque. Offering a wider choice to customers, Tata Motors has given the CNG option in the top-spec XZ+ DT iCNG trim, thus adding a hint of luxury to the affordable CNG segment, unlike other car makers. The hatch returns a claimed fuel mileage of 26.49 kg/km.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR S-CNG: Rs. 6.43 lakh to Rs. 6.86 lakh
Priced in the range of Rs. 6.43 lakh and Rs. 6.86 lakh (ex-showroom), the WagonR S-CNG is available in two trims, LXi, and VXi. The same 1.0 litre K10C petrol engine putting out 56 bhp and 82.1 Nm of peak torque serves as the powerhouse for the tall boy hatchback. The claimed fuel mileage stands at 34.05 kg/km.
