BMW India is now prepping up to launch the most affordable BMW for the Indian market - the 2-series Gran Coupe. With the launch date in place, BMW has now started accepting bookings for the 2-Series Gran Coupe and one can book one from BMW India website with a token amount of Rs 50,000. Early bookers who book the car before 12 noon, October 15 will be given good benefits. Pricing should start around the Rs 33-35 lakh mark.
BMW launched the 2-series Gran Coupe - for the first time - last year around the globe. BMW will launch the 2-series in India on October 15 and it will be the cheapest BMW to own in India. The 2-series Gran Coupe is largely inspired by the bigger 8-series Gran Coupe and sits on the platform of 1-series. Buyers can initiate bookings of BMW 2-series online and also customise the car according to their preferences.

The front of the 2-Series gets the sharp nose along with bigger kidney grille. The headlights of the 2-Series are swept-back and give it a dramatic look. The side profile of the 2-Series sports tapering roofline and frameless doors. The rear of the 2-Seres resembles the most with the 8-Series thanks to all LED slim taillights. BMW 2-series sports smaller dimensions when compared to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limo.
Talking about the interiors of the BMW 2-series Gran Coupe, they resemble with all the other BMWs but in a smaller form factor. Top-end models will get floating touchscreen iDrive system and a digital driver's display. The rear seat space of the 2-Series is generous, however, headroom will be an issue for taller passengers given the sloping roofline. BMW will launch the 2-Series in various trim levels which also means we will get sportier M Sport interiors as well.

At launch, BMW will launch the 2-Series in the 220d trim only and more models will follow on later. The power mill here will be a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 190hp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to 8-speed auto and channel the power to the front wheels only. In terms of performance numbers, the 2-Series will hit a max speed of 225 km/h and sprints from naught to hundred in 7.5 seconds. That very quick for an oil burner. An eight speed automatic is standard and unlike other BMW cars, this one will be front-wheel driven.
BMW will offer Rs 50,000 Taj experience voucher to the early bookers. The voucher can be redeemed for stays and trips to most popular hotels and destinations. BMW will price the 2-Series close to Rs 35 lakh ex-showroom and more affordable petrol trims will be launched in future too. It will assembled here in India and will sit below the 3-Series.
For the uninitiated, the 2-Series is sold in various body types globally. These include Coupe, Convertible, Active Tourer and Gran Tourer. The fifth form is the one you see here, the Gran Coupe. And no, it does not come in a 2-door but a 4-door avatar. It will rub shoulders with the soon to be launched Mercedes-Benz A Class and the Audi A3 sedans
