Entry-Level Skoda EV Spied Testing Overseas
Skoda's upcoming smallest EV, initially previewed as the Skoa Elroq concept in 2023, has now been spotted in its production form. Images of the test mule reveal major elements including split headlamps, although not visible- a closed-off grille, and vertical air curtains, hinting at its distinctive design direction. The vehicle also features pronounced wheel arches with typical alloys and not the EV-centric air reduction ones. However, when it hits the showrooms, it could offer those drag-reduction tyres at that point in time.
Coming to its rear, it somewhat follows the rear tail lamp styling of the Skoda Kushaq, and will probably offer a connected LED light bar for the tail lamps. You can see a spoiler with a stop lamp and a rear wiper, which is expected to come without a washer function. Although it could share some bits with the other Skoda SUVs, the established fact that it is going to be 4.5 meters in length as revealed by Skoda, makes it longer than the Skoda Kushaq.
The upcoming model is anticipated to be based on the MEB platform, sharing components with Skoda's higher-end electric models like the Enyaq and the forthcoming Superb EV. According to online sources, the spy shots suggest that the interior will feature dual digital screens and maintain a minimalist design akin to the concept car showcased last year. More information will be uncovered as more spy shots emerge revealing further finer details.

Battery And Range
The vehicle is anticipated to be equipped with a 62 kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted motor producing approximately 177bhp of power. This Skoda EV is expected to offer a claimed range of around 400 km on a single charge. However, it remains to be seen what charging options will be bundled at its launch.
Expected to debut next year, this EV will go up against the likes of the upcoming Creta EV, upcoming Maruti eVX, and other electric vehicles.
Verdict
Skoda is gearing up to venture into the affordable (relatively) EV segemnt with this offering for a greater mass appeal. While it is not going to be its first EV, the success of its EV portfolio will largely depend on how this Skoda EV performs in the market. But for that, we would have to wait until it debuts next year.
