The Maruti Suzuki Baleno was spied testing a new updated touch screen system. The same is expected with Glanza as well.
Recently, team member Bunny Punia spotted a test car from Maruti Suzuki with the initials G 430 on the side and rear. This has been pretty common with Maruti and we have seen such codes in the past as well. Back to the story - it was a red-colored Baleno, and the dashboard looked quite unusual with AC pipes coming out of the vents.

A closer inspection of the cabin revealed that the touch screen infotainment system was under test - multiple wires and of course a laptop in there. This means that for 2022, the Baleno will get an updated infotainment system, so will its rebadged Toyota version, the Glanza. In fact, Bunny also spotted the Toyota logo on the screen - this came in during a system reboot. Maruti understands that rivals like the i20 offer a better equipped infotainment system and new age customer do seek such add-ons and gizmos. Will Maruti offer advanced connected features? Our fingers remain crossed.

If you look at the spied images closely, especially the boot lid, you will notice the letters RS as well. Maruti Suzuki had launched the Baleno RS in 2019 that produced more power and torque than the standard model. The 998 cc, 3-cylinder engine produced 101 PS and 150 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. This performance-oriented model was discontinued after a short stint - we don't think it will make a comeback to the Indian market yet. However, for the 2022 model, Maruti might update the current set of engine offerings for higher output. This is something the i20 offers with the 1000cc turbo petrol unit.

The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift has already rolled out of the factory floors, and it is expected to launch in the first half of 2022. Bookings will start from the first week of February onwards. The leaked images also showcase how good the updated model will look like. Full marks to Maruti for this.

The new model will feature new headlights and tail lamp design, along with a new front and rear fascia. Mechanically, the Baleno is expected to retain the naturally aspirated 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 1.2-liter mild-hybrid petrol engine, that churns out 82 bhp and 89 bhp, respectively.

Furthermore, it will also get features like HUD, a new interior with a revised center console, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Comfort features like automatic climate control, wireless charging, etc will also be available.
