Upcoming Maruti Cars in 2022
Next-gen Maruti Alto
The new generation Alto that you see in the spy shots is expected to look somewhat similar to the previous model. The test mule does not reveal the final design as it is completely covered whereas few visible styling changes could be seen. The upcoming Alto will come with a clamshell bonnet design, upward swooping headlamps, fog lamps, and an oversized mesh grille. The side profile looks quite similar to the existing model. At the rear, there is a possibility that the car might come with newly designed taillights and a fresh interior design.
Maruti must include some basic features in the car like manual AC, dual airbags, power steering, central locking, and with the top-end trims, it might offer a touchscreen infotainment system. Alto is Marutis entry-level hatchback. The upcoming model is expected to be built on the new platform with a new design language and a spacious cabin with an upgraded list of features.
Maruti Suzuki has just introduced Celerio in the market in a completely new avatar that packs a K10C naturally aspirated engine. It is difficult to comment whether the carmaker will introduce this motor in the new Alto or not. Or the car will come with its tied and tested 800cc engine that is already updated with the BS6 norms.

Maruti Baleno Facelift
The next model on our list of upcoming Maruti cars in 2022 is the second facelift for the carmaker's Hyundai i20-rivalling Maruti Suzuki Baleno. This is a premium hatchback that carries a youth-oriented modern looking design language whereas Maruti is expected to launch a facelift version of Baleno that will have a bold design. Company has not yet revealed any information about the car, however, the images of the hatchback have been leaked over the web.
The upcoming facelift is all set to be launched with revised looks and design whereas the car is also receiving updates in the interior also. It is also possible that the hatch might offer a dual-tone dashboard design with an all-new digital instrument cluster and an advanced connected infotainment system as well. Along with this, the car is also expected to come with a new alloy wheel design, and ambient lighting.
Maruti has tweaked the design language of the hatch upfront and will come in a revised version according to the leaked images. The updated facelift version will come in a new avatar. That said, the carmakers have redesigned the front bumper with a bigger compartment for fog lamps. The front grille design is stretched to the headlamps unit making it look stylish. With an update in the front grille design, the headlamp units have also been updated accordingly. Even the bonnet is tweaked according to the latest design language.
The images show that the upcoming Baleno will offer cladding on the pillars with chrome inserts on the grille and on the door handles as well. The images only show the front and rear profile of the hatch whereas it is also possible that the upcoming Baleno will also receive an updated alloy-wheel design. The taillights at the rear are also new and look a bit similar to WRV.
The upcoming facelift will be powered by a revised version of the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine only that will get an advanced K Series dual jet dual VVT engine. The same engine has been used in the latest generation Swift and the new Baleno might receive few changes in the power and torque figures. If that doesn't happen the engine would be capable of producing 66kW of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque.

Toyota-Maruti's Hyundai Creta-Rival
The last car on our list of upcoming Maruti cars in 2022 is an SUV that is a result of the Joint Venture between Toyota and Suzuki. This vehicle will be targeted at the South Korean automakers, which currently rule the compact SUV segment with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It will also lock horns with the Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun. The launch of the new model should take place in about a year's time.
The new model will have two variants, one for Maruti Suzuki and one for Toyota. Both models will differ in their styling theme and will, hence, have a different set of soft parts. However, the SUVs will share everything else, including sheet metal, platform, engines and features.
The new SUV will have perfect dimensions and will measure around 4.3 meters in length, making it as long as the Creta. It was earlier speculated that the new SUV will be based on Suzuki's global C platform that also underpins the Suzuki Vitara. However, it is now said that the new model will be based on Toyotas new low-cost DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) that also underpins the Toyota Raize sub-compact SUV.
