Updated on April 29, 2021 - Maruti Suzuki Baleno is a very popular premium hatch in India and you can click HERE to read its First Look Review. Now, as you have done that, keep scrolling down to know How Many Kms You Can Clock In Maruti Baleno Reserve Capacity.
Original Article - January 9, 2020; Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the best selling premium hatchback in the country and is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The car comes with latest features and technologies that one needs in a car at this price. And, Baleno also takes care of the mileage part (which is the first concern in the mind of Indian buyers). The ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) claimed mileage for the petrol and diesels engines are 21.4km/l and 27.39 km/l respectively.
So now that we have covered the Kitna deti hai part, lets continue with the topic on how many kilometres the reserve fuel capacity of Maruti Baleno can run or how many litres of the fuel is left in the tank once that yellow blink light pops up.
Reserve Capacity
Maruti Suzuki Baleno offers a tank of 37 litres in all its engine and generally, 10 to 15% of the fuel is left in the reserve capacity. That accounts to up to 3 to 5 litres, which means you can pretty much complete a fair amount of distance before filling up the fuel tank again. And to measure it in the distance, we can simply take the ARAI fuel efficiency and take the amount of fuel left.
Suppose we talk about the diesel engine then it delivers the highest mileage of 27.39 km/l and then we multiply this figure by 5 (this is the capacity of the reserve tank). So in reserve capacity, the diesel engine will cover about 137 km which is a lot. The same steps can be followed with the petrol engines. Mind you, the mileage figures are ARAI claimed and can be different from the real-world economy. On a safe side, once the low fuel light comes on, do not plan to drive over 80-100 km in a diesel Baleno and 50-60 km in a petrol one.
Engine Specification
Giving you more insight of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno then it comes with two petrol and one diesel engine. The petrol motor is powered by a 1.2-litre engine which is tuned to BS6 emission norms. Now, talking about the petrol motors then one packs a mild hybrid system and the other is a non-hybrid version of the same motor.
The smart hybrid not only improves the performance of the car but also helps the Baleno in achieving a greater fuel economy. It comes with an automatic start-stop system which detects the idle situation of the engine. The Dualjet, VVT engine produces 90 bhp on tap with a peak torque of 113 Nm. The fuel efficiency comes at 23.87 km/l. The non-hybrid petrol motor churns out 82 bhp with 115 Nm of peak torque and ARAI claimed fuel efficiency is 21.01 km/l. It offers 19.56 km/l in terms of an automatic gearbox.
Transmission is taken care by a 5-speed manual gearbox for both the motors and a CVT for the non-hybrid petrol engine. The 1.3-litre, turbocharged diesel engine generates 74 bhp with a peak torque of 190 Nm. The motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Price And Competition
Maruti Baleno competes with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Glanza. The prices of the car starts at Rs 5.67 lakh for the base trim with top end variant fetching till Rs 9.0 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
Note - We have not taken into consideration the RS trim of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno as it will be discontinued when the new BS6 emission norms kick in.
