Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been a popular premium hatchback in the Indian market. It takes on the highly popular Hyundai Elite i20 and the newly launched Tata Altroz in the Indian market. In March, Maruti Suzuki announced that they dispatched 11,406 units of the Baleno, which is higher than any other vehicle in the market. This is the first time that the Baleno has topped the sales chart in India. What are the top reasons that made Baleno India's best selling car?
Consistent sales
Maruti Suzuki dispatched 11,420 units in February 2020, which is similar to the 11,406 units in March. While the dispatch numbers of all other vehicles including Maruti Suzuki dropped by a huge margin in March, the Baleno dispatch number remained the same. All other vehicles including the Alto saw a massive drop in the dispatch numbers in March. Now, this can be due to the inventory of Maruti Suzuki Baleno with the manufacturer or it can be attributed to the lockdown. In either way, the Baleno became India's best selling car in March 2020.
Prepared better
Maruti Suzuki launched the BS6 version of the Baleno quite some time back. While Hyundai i20, the main rival of the Baleno in the Indian market was launched in BS6 version in March, just before the BS6 implementation, the Baleno, which is only available in the petrol variants now was launched almost a year ahead of the emission target. Maruti Suzuki did not need to do any change before the BS6 deadline.
High popularity
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno remains the best-selling vehicle in the segment for a long time now and there's a lot of demand for the vehicle. Even though it is only available with a petrol engine option at the moment, it offers the best fuel efficiency. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno also offers a premium cabin and offers a decent list of usable features. The Baleno has a high demand in the market and there's no denying that fact. Sold via Nexa outlets that offer a premium purchase experience, this is also a reason for customers inclining towards India's best selling car.
