Skoda Kylaq, undoubtedly the most fun-to-drive SUV under Rs 15 lakh in India, has been collecting praises from Indian auto experts and customers and has received a tremendous response from a sales point of view. Its base Classic trim is getting the most bookings, as it starts at an attractive price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). However, it feels shallow from the inside as it doesn't offer many features. That's why we believe the Signature, its second trim, provides the best value for money. And why is that so? Let's find out. Skoda Kylaq

The second variant in the Kylaq lineup is called Signature, and it starts at Rs 9.59 lakh for the 6-MT and Rs 10.59 lakh for the 6-AT. Now, this is a Rs 1.7 lakh price difference from the base Classic, which is huge, as it would become a deal-breaker for many people. However, in the base variant, the interior feels empty and half-cooked. There is no infotainment screen, no steering-mounted controls, an analog tachometer, and 16-inch steel wheel covers.

While most people are going for it, after taking delivery, they are heading straight to their local car accessories shop to get an aftermarket screen and pick shiny alloy wheels. Yes, it would still cost less than Rs 1.7 lakh, but no one can fully trust aftermarket products, as they might also interfere with the car's wiring system, which can later cause problems. So, getting a variant that comes with these factory-fitted features is a recommended option.

Also, the alloy wheels in after market cost varies, as they prices range from brand to brand, and obviosuly the more price you pay will get you high quality alloy wheels. So, if you can't compromise on that quotient, then picking the variant which packs it will be a more smart option, as you will end paying a high amount even in alloy wheels shop.

Features In Skoda Kylaq Signature
This variant gets crucial modern features such as cruise control, a 7-inch infotainment screen with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, R16 alloy wheels, four speakers, rear AC vents, and an adjustable central armrest. Now, all these features have become very important in today's driving, as everyone needs navigation on-screen to reach their destination. Plus, speakers are a must, as no drive is complete without music, which is missing in the Classic iteration. Apart from this, the armrest enhances comfort, and if a car in this segment doesn't offer cruise control, is it a good decision? The masses don't think so.

Another reason why the Skoda Kylaq Signature makes the most sense is that the option to choose an automatic transmission becomes available. So, for people who drive mostly in metro cities, an AT is great option, and with the Signature variant, you can buy it for Rs 10,59,000 (ex-showroom). To add more, two additional color options also become available - Olive Gold and Carbon Steel. On the other hand, in the Classic variant, customers can only choose between Candy White, Brilliant Silver, and Tornado Red.

Verdict
By choosing this variant, one doesn't need to visit the aftermarket, as it packs almost every necessary feature. Also, for extra comfortable rides, one can opt for the 6-AT, which, when paired with the 1.0L TSI, provides the best driving experience. That said, the higher variants above Signature do pack more features, but their prices will make you shiver, as each variant is almost Rs 1.5 lakh more expensive, plus another Rs 1.5 lakh in taxes. So, choose wisely and go for the Signature.
